Baseball Recap: Freedom's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Freedom dropped their record down to 8-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in April.

As for Luxemburg-Casco, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Luxemburg-Casco's part, Jake Chervenka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on zero hits.

At the plate, Luxemburg-Casco saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Werner, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
