La Joya is 10-0 against Edinburg North since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The La Joya Coyotes will head out on the road to take on the Edinburg North Cougars at 6:00 p.m. La Joya is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, La Joya ended up a good deal behind Mission and lost 52-34.
Despite their loss, La Joya saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lydia Gonzalez, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Cynthia Longoria was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Edinburg North had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Economedes 49-23. With Edinburg North ahead 30-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Edinburg North's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Etsel Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Roxanna Rodriguez, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
La Joya's loss dropped their record down to 9-25. As for Edinburg North, their win bumped their record up to 13-16.
La Joya was able to grind out a solid victory over Edinburg North in their previous meeting on January 5th, winning 37-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Joya since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
