The Tooele Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Murray by a score of 75-73. While losing is never fun, Tooele can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Murray is ranked 35th).
Despite the loss, Tooele still got an impressive performance from Ethan B rogers, who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 43.8% of Tooele's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Even though they lost, Tooele were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Murray's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinton Christman, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 5 assists. Isaiah Beh was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Tooele has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Murray, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tooele will face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
