The Lightning are taking a road trip to square off against the Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.
Long Reach came up short against Centennial on Monday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-18.
Despite the loss, Long Reach had strong showings from Evalyn Ordonez, who had eight digs and four aces, and London Clay, who had eight assists and five digs.
Meanwhile, Glenelg lost 3-0 to Howard on Monday. The Gladiators have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
While Glenelg was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Howard's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.
Long Reach's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Glenelg, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Long Reach has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Glenelg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Long Reach might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Glenelg in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
