After three games on the road, Gwynn Park is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Largo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
On Monday, Gwynn Park was able to grind out a solid win over Oxon Hill, taking the game 59-47. Given Gwynn Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Oxon Hill is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gwynn Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Bevins led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Demarcus Daniel Jr., who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Largo entered their tilt with Fairmont Heights with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Largo strolled past Fairmont Heights with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 81-65.
Gwynn Park's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Largo, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Gwynn Park came up short against Largo in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 61-57. Thankfully for Gwynn Park, Andre King (who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
