Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Colonel Crawford). They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over Bucyrus on Wednesday. The Eagles have beaten the Redmen the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Redmen has come to flipping the script.
Like Upper Sandusky, Colonel Crawford also got a great game from a two-way player: Aubrey Betts. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Betts was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Colonel Crawford let Brooklyn Vanderpool and Olivia Friley run wild. Vanderpool went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Friley went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Friley continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Strausbaugh, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI and one run.
Upper Sandusky's record is now 11-3. As for Colonel Crawford, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 8-9.
Everything went Upper Sandusky's way against Colonel Crawford in their previous meeting on April 9th, as Upper Sandusky made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
