The MacArthur Brahmas will head out to face off against the Antonian Prep Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, MacArthur came up short against South San Antonio and fell 10-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Brahmas in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.
Kennedy Garner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Averi Alderete was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Shamrocks 15-3. Considering the Apaches have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ale Santoyo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Santoyo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Victoria Gass looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Bella Vasquez and Khloe Villanueva did most of the damage at the plate: Vasquez scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Villanueva scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Villanueva a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Isabella Garza, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Antonian Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Antonian Prep pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for MacArthur, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. MacArthur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Antonian Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
MacArthur came up short against Antonian Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 8-4. Can MacArthur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
