Even though The Taylor County Bulldogs scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, the Maclay Marauders still came out on top. Maclay won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Taylor County 35-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Maclay.
It was another big night for George Grant, who threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Nash Beshears, who picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Taylor County saw an underclassman step up: Deandre Flowers rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Dj Mccoy was another key contributor, gaining 78 total yards and a touchdown.
Maclay is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Taylor County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Maclay will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. John Paul II at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Tremaine Hughes Jr. and Grant. Taylor County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
