The Tompkins Falcons and the Ridge Point Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Tompkins Falcons had to settle for second. Tompkins took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridge Point. Tompkins' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Tompkins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Wyatt Young. Despite the final result, he rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Young is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Caleb Blocker also helped out as he racked up 143 rushing yards.
Austin Carlisle was a one-man wrecking crew for Ridge Point as he threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown. Ashton Bethel-roman was in the mix too, providing Ridge Point with two touchdowns.
Tompkins' loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Ridge Point, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Tompkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ridge Point will take on Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
