Maeser Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patricia Keeley, who scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Octavia Mosher, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Maeser Prep Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Anne Howard was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds for Waterford. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Howard has scored all season. Kenley Carter was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Maeser Prep Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Waterford, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maeser Prep Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rowland Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Rowland Hall has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (St. Joseph is ranked 116th, while Waterford is ranked 99th).
