The Gateway Charter Griffins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph Academy.
Several Griffins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jazmyne Trubina, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaneila Roman, who scored ten points.
St. Joseph Academy was led to victory by Zariyah Turner and Kelly Cramer. Turner scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, while Cramer scored 19 points along with three steals. Cramer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played.
Gateway Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for St. Joseph Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Gateway Charter and Altamonte Christian will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Joseph Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Merritt Island Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Merritt Island Christian is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
