Mater Dei extended the longest winning streak in Metro - Pacific this week by beating Montgomery, 17-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Crusaders.
Mater Dei and the Aztecs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Mater Dei eventually emerging with a 17-12 victory. Jaison Miller in the win.
Castle Park's dynamic duo of Juan Luna and David Anderson proved tough for Sweetwater to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Luna threw for 99 yards and one touchdown and Anderson had 69 yards receiving. Aaron Leon helped Castle Park's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Marcos Mathis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 128 yards as Montgomery beat the Red Devils. Teammate Charles Williams added to the ground attack by rushing for 37 yards.
On the ground, Ted Jarumayan's team's Williams has rushed for 620 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aust'n Morga. The Montgomery star has 21 catches for 283 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Mater Dei takes on second place Castle Park. John Joyner's team topped the Aztecs last week, while Castle Park beat Sweetwater.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Hans Graham's team and the Crusaders face off next week. Luna has thrown for 679 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Sebastian Kelley has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of five sacks.
There should be lots of points scored when the Trojans and Mater Dei face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Castle Park comes in having scored 140 this season, while the Crusaders have scored 202. The Trojans scored 17 points last week as they defeated Jose Mendoza's team.
Castle Park made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,720 from 10,977. The advance stemmed from a 17-7 victory over the Red Devils last week.
