Baseball Game Preview: Asotin Panthers vs. DeSales Irish

The Asotin Panthers will challenge the DeSales Irish at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Asotin is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Asotin's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Colfax hitters got past them. The Panthers walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday. Asotin's win was all the more impressive since the Bulldogs were averaging only 3.2 runs allowed on the season.

The team relied heavily on CODY ELLS, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. SAM HALL was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, DeSales made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty Christian on Saturday. The Irish had just enough and edged out the Patriots 11-10.

Asotin pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for DeSales, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Asotin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like DeSales struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
