The Hi-Plains Patriots lost against the Briggsdale Falcons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Hi-Plains took a 55-37 bruising from Briggsdale. While losing is never fun, Hi-Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Briggsdale is ranked 34th).
Defeat or not, Hi-Plains got some senior leadership from Caelan Church who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and Brooklynn Henschel who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals. That's the first time this season that Church scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cloe Smith, who scored four points along with five steals.
Hi-Plains struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jenna Krise had a dynamite game for Briggsdale, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Krise has scored at least 25% of Briggsdale's points. Claire Brown was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hi-Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Briggsdale, the win (which was their 12th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.
Hi-Plains and Lone Star will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lone Star will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Briggsdale will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cheylin at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th.
