The Autauga Academy Generals are taking a road trip to face off against the Pike County Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Autauga Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Autauga Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Autaugaville on Tuesday. The Generals were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Eagles. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Destinee Carroll and Madison Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Carroll scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Johnson scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in February. Jermaria Sanders also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Autauga Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pike County had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over New Brockton on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Taylor Trawick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmya Moultry, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Kailia Beacham was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Autauga Academy pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pike County, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-17.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Autauga Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Pike County struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Autauga Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Pike County in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
