It was fun while it lasted, but Panther Valley's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Monday. They lost 54-33 to the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Panther Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brady Jones, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Baneravage, who posted nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Panther Valley fell to 4-1. As for Mahanoy Area, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panther Valley Panthers face off against the Pine Grove Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Panther Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Mahanoy Area, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lincoln Leadership Academy at 1:30 p.m.
