Basketball Recap: South Stanly Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Cohen Whitley and Gavyn Miller

If South Stanly was feeling good fresh off their 58-36 takedown of A.L. Brown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals. While losing is never fun, the Rowdy Rebel Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Royals are ranked 120th).

South Stanly's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavyn Miller, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards, and Cohen Whitley, who posted 11 points. Miller is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Woods, who earned five points and seven rebounds.

Robert Knotts was his usual excellent self, putting up 21 points for College Prep & Leadership Academy. Another player making a difference was Tyrie Pressley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

South Stanly's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

South Stanly didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-78 loss against West Stanly on the 30th. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-46 defeat against North Stanly on the 30th.
