Baseball Recap: Skyline Has No Trouble Against West

Skyline won the last time they faced West and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Panthers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.

Jack Jaggi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Skyline is undefeated when Jaggi posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abe Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nico Wharton was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in six consecutive games.

Skyline pushed their record up to 12-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for West, they are on a 40-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Coming up, Skyline will welcome Brighton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last four games the Bengals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for West, they will venture away from home to take on Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
