Football Recap: Cole Linnen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic over Holy Cross

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic lost against Holy Cross back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Yellowjackets took a hard 36-20 fall against the Crusaders. The Yellowjackets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Linnen, who rushed for 91 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Brady Lombardo had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 371 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt for Holy Cross. Those five passing touchdowns gave Lombardo a new career-high. 122 of Lombardo's passing yards were hauled in by Devonne Drake, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Holy Cross, their record is now 6-3.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic and Holy Cross will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Yellowjackets see the field they'll take on St. Paul Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Holy Cross, their break will end when they face Wolcott at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
