The Sunlake Seahawks were the 66-53 winner over the Wesley Chapel Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Sunlake was beaten by the Wildcats 71-40 on Monday. Sunlake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sunlake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alia Dobrzanski, who scored 11 points. Madison Cason was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Sanai Forrester-Jhagroo, who scored 27 points along with five steals for Wesley Chapel. Forrester-Jhagroo hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayla Christopher, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Sunlake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Wesley Chapel, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunlake will take on the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anclote is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Wesley Chapel, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Dreadnaughts at 7:00 p.m. Lakeland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Wildcats are ranked 136th).
