The Clarksdale Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Corinth Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarksdale is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Clarksdale pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-66 to Pontotoc. While losing is never fun, Clarksdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Pontotoc is ranked 77th).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Corinth, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-48 loss to New Hope on Tuesday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cayden Harris, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Crump, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Clarksdale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Corinth, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Clarksdale came up short against Corinth when the teams last played back in February of 2020, falling 56-51. Can Clarksdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
