Even though DeSoto scored an imposing 80 points on Friday, Duncanville still came out on top. Duncanville walked away with an 88-80 victory over DeSoto. Given Duncanville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while DeSoto is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bugg Edwards was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 3 assists. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Davis-ray, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Legacy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Cedar Hill by a score of 73-64 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Duncanville pushed their record up to 17-9 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Mansfield Legacy, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-19.
Duncanville was able to grind out a solid win over Mansfield Legacy in their previous meeting back in January, winning 77-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Duncanville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
