Basketball Recap: Lewis Cass Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Bryce Rudd and Brody Hillis

Lewis Cass lost against Northfield back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lewis Cass Kings fell just short of the Northfield Norsemen by a score of 54-51.

Lewis Cass' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brody Hillis, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 23 points, and Bryce Rudd, who went 8 of 14 en route to 19 points. The dominant performance gave Rudd a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Young, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Rodgers, who put up 15 points. Rodgers is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Jaden Baer was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Lewis Cass dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Northfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Lewis Cass wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-30 loss against Manchester on the 11th. As for Northfield, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Winamac at 7:30 p.m. Winamac is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
