The Crisp Academy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Covenant Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Crisp Academy of the 46-37 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Crisp Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Ellenberg, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Ellenberg has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Reese Reed was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, Crisp Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Academy only posted four assists.
Covenant Academy found their leader in underclassman Ryan Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ben Mcghee, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Crisp Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Covenant Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
