The Leon Cougars won the last time they faced the Normangee Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. Leon took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over Normangee. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Leon.
Leon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Bumpurs, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Cooper Stevens was another key contributor, picking up 190 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Leon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Normangee, their defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9.
Leon will face off against Garrison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Garrison knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Leon likes a good challenge. Normangee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
