Notus extended their losing streak to 14 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 21-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (11), the Pirates still had to take the loss.
Cierra Norris stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Raven Platt, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Horseshoe Bend, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
On Horseshoe Bend's side, Kimber Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off only two hits. Jones was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Aiyonna Lupinacci was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vilate Wilson, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
