After flying high against Santa Fe last Friday, La Porte came back down to earth. The La Porte Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 66-65 to the Angleton Wildcats. Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Watson, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 21 points. The game was Watson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Callies, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points and seven steals.
Even though they lost, La Porte was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Angleton only racked up ten assists.
Angleton found their leader in freshman Bryson Campbell, who went 11 of 12 on his way to 26 points along with six boards and three steals. Campbell has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Braydon Campbell, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.
With the loss, La Porte broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-10. As for Angleton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-15.
La Porte wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-58 win against Iowa Colony on the 31st. Angleton has also already played their next contest, a 75-69 defeat against Friendswood on the 31st.
