The San Tan Charter Roadrunners are taking a road trip to square off against the Miami Vandals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Tan Charter has 11 straight wins, Miami has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
San Tan Charter had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Gilbert Classical Academy on Monday. The Roadrunners blew past the Spartans 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Roadrunners, who have now won ten matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Titus Csader made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Csader was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Tyrus Colomer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Tommy Crupi and Braden Peasel did most of the damage at the plate: Crupi scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Peasel scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Crupi also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Bairyk Schulte was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
San Tan Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert Classical Academy only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Miami came up short against Alchesay on Monday and fell 9-5.
Kris Tarango made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Montano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
San Tan Charter pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.
San Tan Charter took their victory against Miami in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roadrunners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
