The Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles lost against the Gaithersburg Trojans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Thursday. Seneca Valley opened the new year with a less-than-successful  64-51 loss to Gaithersburg. Seneca Valley has not had much luck with Gaithersburg recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
 When it comes to explaining why Seneca Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Jaysen Moise. Despite the final result, he  scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ervin Maxwell, who  scored 12 points along with six  rebounds.
 Seneca Valley bumped their record down to 2-7 with that  defeat, which was their third straight  at home. As for Gaithersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
 Seneca Valley will head out on the road to face off against Clarksburg at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Gaithersburg, they will square off against Northwest at TBD on Monday.
