Baseball Recap: Leon Wins Going Away Against Munroe

Leon won the last time they faced Munroe and things went their way on Monday too. The Lions blew past the Bobcats 13-1. Considering the Lions have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Bergstrom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Raney McMullian was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Leon: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Evans Franco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Leon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

The win got Leon back to even at 12-12. As for Munroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Leon is taking a road trip to challenge Marianna at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Munroe, they will be playing at home against Altha at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
