Panguitch has gone 4-0 against Wendover recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panguitch Bobcats face off against the Wendover Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Panguitch is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Wednesday, Panguitch beat Wayne 54-46. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Badgers are ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panguitch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Remme Chappell led the charge by going 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Chappell is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridger Chappell, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.
Panguitch was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only posted nine assists.
Meanwhile, Wendover can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They strolled past Wayne with points to spare, taking the game 57-43. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Panguitch better keep an eye on Raul Valle. He was instrumental in Wendover's win, putting up 28 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Valle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Gonzalez, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.
Panguitch's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Wendover, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Panguitch has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wendover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Panguitch against Wendover in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as the team secured an 83-46 victory. In that game, Panguitch amassed a halftime lead of 42-19, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
