The Lorain Titans will head out to face off against the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Last Monday, Lorain made easy work of Bedford and carried off a 19-7 victory. Considering the Titans have won three matchups by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Olivia Charlton tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Ja'Ly Cortes was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Lorain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bedford only posted an OBP of .410.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, St. Joseph Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Magnificat on Wednesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Blue Streaks with a sharp 18-4 win. The Jaguars are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fourth contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Emily Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, St. Joseph Academy got a massive performance out of Sylvia Mittendorf, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Mittendorf has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Reyes, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
St. Joseph Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Lorain, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Lorain's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Titans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for St. Joseph Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lorain continue to outrun the ball?
Lorain might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from St. Joseph Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
