Skipstone Academy has gone 9-1 against Covington Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Skipstone Academy Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Covington Academy Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Skipstone Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Peachtree Academy, but still couldn't quite topple them. Skipstone Academy blew past Peachtree Academy 19-7 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Brookelyn Rogers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Rogers was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Skipstone Academy got a massive performance out of Josie Willey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Hardin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double.
Skipstone Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Covington Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity Prep, sneaking past 6-5. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Bryleigh Bragg spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 17 Ks.
On the hitting side, Makenzie Cowan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Sydney Ellis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Everything went Skipstone Academy's way against Covington Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Skipstone Academy made off with a 12-0 victory.
