Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). They came out on top against the Byram Hills Bobcats by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.
Anthony Frobose was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Frobose was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Lou Vernagallo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Matt McDermott was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Lakeland back to even at 2-2.
Looking ahead, Lakeland will head out on the road to face off against John Jay at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Byram Hills, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Edgemont at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st.
