Make it eight blowout wins for the New Iberia Yellowjackets this season. They blew past Sulphur 50-26. Given New Iberia's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Golden Tors are ranked 133rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne Randall-bashay continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Delahoussaye, who scored four points along with seven assists and three steals.
New Iberia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Sulphur, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Iberia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Sulphur, they will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Comeaux will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
