Softball Recap: Richland County Has No Trouble Against Paris

Richland County had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 12-8 to make it four. Everything went their way against Paris as they made off with a 16-6 victory. Richland County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Taylor Bloomer made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Dowty, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison McLaughlin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Richland County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paris only posted an OBP of .367.

As for Paris, their loss dropped their record down to 11-18. They haven't had much luck with Richland County recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

On Paris' side, Jacie Young was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Richland County will square off against Oblong at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Paris, they will take on West Vigo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
