The Lake Shore Shorians will head out to square off against the Hazel Park Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Lake Shore is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Rochester on Friday. The Shorians were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Falcons.

Sophia VanDenstorm made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, Kendra Damm was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That home run was her first of the season. Makayla Blumenschein was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Lake Shore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hazel Park made easy work of Madison on Wednesday and carried off a 17-1 win. Considering the Vikings' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Like Lake Shore, Hazel Park also got a great game from a two-way player: Madison Platt (2027). On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Platt (2027) was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hazel Park got a massive performance out of Lillian Griffiths (2027), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kathryn Chappell (2026), who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Hazel Park's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lake Shore, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
