It was a good run, but the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Circleville. Bloom-Carroll has not had much luck with Circleville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Bloom-Carroll lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marissa Wilkinson, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Emily Bratton, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Bloom-Carroll's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for Circleville, their win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0.
Bloom-Carroll will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Whitehall-Yearling at 1:00 p.m. on February 24th. Whitehall-Yearling will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Bloom-Carroll is ranked 73rd). As for Circleville, they will head out on the road to challenge Teays Valley at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Circleville's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Teays Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
