The Morro Bay Pirates were the 49-41 winner over the Cabrillo Conquistadores when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Morro Bay took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cabrillo on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Morro Bay has lost by exactly 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Morro Bay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Falat. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Falat scored a full 40.9% of Morro Bay's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Smith, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Morro Bay now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Cabrillo, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Morro Bay will take on River City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. River City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Cabrillo's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bakersfield at 11:30 a.m. on December 1st. Bakersfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
