The Kennedy Catholic Lancers will challenge the Stadium Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Kennedy Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Kennedy Catholic is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to Kentwood.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stadium). Everything went their way against Auburn on Thursday as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ella Enciso and Izzy Galindo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Enciso tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Galindo pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Enciso went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Galindo went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two runs gave Enciso a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lily Hart was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kate Erickson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Stadium always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Stadium pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kennedy Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Stadium struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kennedy Catholic suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Stadium when the teams last played back in March. Will the Lancers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
