After flying high against the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders on Friday, the Galena Pirates came back down to earth. Galena fell just short of South Beloit by a score of 47-44. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Galena has scored all season.
Galena lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Connor Glasgow, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Glasgow's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myles Schumacher, who scored 12 points.
Galena struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for South Beloit, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Pecatonica the next time they take the court. Galena will head out to face Pecatonica at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while South Beloit will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
