The Hillcrest Panthers posted their biggest victory since December 21, 2023 on Friday. They breezed by Sunset on the road to the tune of 80-23. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 518th, while Sunset is ranked 1248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jed-ethan Nansha led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laterrance Potter, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Hillcrest's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Sunset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Molina the next time they take the court. Sunset will head out to face Molina at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Hillcrest will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
