Softball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Port Jervis

Port Jervis extended their winning streak to eight on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 9-3 in the process. They never let the Eldred Yellowjackets get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Raiders have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Abbey Montalvo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlotte Rivera, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Rivera is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Madison Dobbs was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Port Jervis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldred only managed six hits.

As for Eldred, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. The contest marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Eldred's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Furler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Port Jervis will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eldred, they will square off against Liberty at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
