Lutheran proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the San Marcos Academy Bears. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Keegan Stinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Stinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malachy King, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Jack Fiorenza was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Lutheran's record is now 8-5. As for San Marcos Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Great Hearts Northern Oaks at 5:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for San Marcos Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Faith Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marcos Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
