Even though the Carver Yellowjackets have not done well against the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Carver walked away with a 59-48 win over the Royals. The win made it back-to-back wins for Carver.
Leading Carver to victory were Jeremiah Glaspie and Kejuan Bruton. Glaspie dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Bruton dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Gakeri, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, College Prep & Leadership Academy saw an underclassman step up: Tyrie Pressley dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Knotts, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
The win got Carver back to even at 9-9. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Carver will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cornerstone Charter is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Villains at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully the Royals likes a good challenge.
