Many of the quarterbacks on the MaxPreps Top 25 Pro-Style Quarterbacks list came up big this week, but none bigger than Belton's David Ash, who went over 300 yards passing for the second straight week.
One week after throwing for 374 yards and three touchdowns in a close loss to Abilene, 36-27, Ash threw for 450 yards and six touchdowns in another tough loss, this time to Austin, 66-63.
Others coming up big this week include No. 2 ranked Jeff Driskel of Hagerty, Kyle Boehm of Archbishop Mitty, Max Shortell of Bishop Miege and Reilly O'Toole of Wheaton-Warrenville South.
Following is a list of how the top 23 Pro-Style Quarterbacks performed this weekend. Some QBs have yet to play and two others, Christian LeMay (ranked No. 1 to start the season) and Daxx Garman of Southlake Carroll (ranked No. 21) are not currently playing.
MaxPreps Top 25 Pro-Style Quarterbacks2. Jeff Driskel, Hagerty (Oviedo, Fla.) - Ran for 248 yards and passed for 150 (completing 17 of 26) in a 24-22 win over Lake Mary (Fla.). Scored on runs of 61 and 68 yards and also threw an 8-yard touchdown.
3. Cody Kessler, Centennial (Bakersfield, Calif.) - First game is Sept. 9 vs. Redwood (Visalia, Calif.).
4. Max Wittek, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) - Sept. 4 vs. Carson.
5. Phillip Ely, Plant (Tampa, Fla.) - Scored the only touchdown in a 10-0 win over Tampa Bay Tech (Tampa, Fla.) on a 1-yard run. Sat out part of the game after reinjuring an ankle on a sack. Finished with 108 yards passing.
6. Brandon Allen, Fayetteville (Fayetteville, Ark.) - Completed 10 of 16 passes for 111 yards and threw touchdown passes of 10, 1 and 7 yards in a 49-0 win over Parkway West (Ballwin, Mo.).

7. Kevin Hogan, Gonzaga (Washington, District of Columbia) - No statistics yet on Hogan's performance in a 34-20 loss to McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.). Hogan attempted only three passes, completing two, in a 41-16 win over McKinley in the season opener last week. He had 78 yards passing, including a 63-yard touchdown pass in that victory.
8. Kyle Boehm, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) - Completed 15 of 17 passes for 228 yards and touchdowns of 56 and 27 yards. he also ran eight times for 141 yards and a 70-yard touchdown run in a 34-7 win over Pioneer (San Jose, Calif.).
9. Connor Cook, Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) - Threw a touchdown pass in a 26-6 win over Archbishop Hoban (Akron, Ohio). He also completed 14 of 28 passes for 201 yards and score in last week's 28-14 win over Louisville.
10. Christian Suntrup, Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.) - Sept. 4 vs. Roosevelt (St. Louis, Mo.).
11. David Ash, Belton (Belton, Texas) - Ash broke three school records in going 30 of 41 for 450 yards and six touchdowns in a 66-63 loss to Austin (Texas). He also ran for a pair of scores. Ash set records for passing yards in a game and a career and TD passes in a game.
12. Justin Worley, Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) - Completed 27 of 40 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-0 win over York (S.C.).
13. Corbin Berkstresser, Lee's Summit (Lee's Summit, Mo.) - No individual statistics yet this week on Berkstresser, but his team did have 625 yards of offense in a 53-49 loss to Raymore-Peculiar (Peculiar, Mo.). Last week Berkstresser completed 12 of 15 passes for 349 yards and five touchdowns.
14. Jake Rudock, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) - Sept. 6 vs. Skyline (Dallas, Texas).
15. Michael Eubank, Centennial (Corona, Calif.) - Opens season vs. Birmingham (Lake Balboa, Calif.), Sept. 10.
16. Cole Stoudt, Dublin Coffman (Dublin, Ohio) - Sept. 5 vs. Westerville South (Westerville, Ohio).
17. Evan Crower, St. Augustine (San Diego, Calif.) - Threw a pair of touchdown passes in a 21-12 loss to Carlsbad (Calif.).
18. Gary Nova, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) - Opens Sept. 10 vs. Gilman (Baltimore, Md.).
19. Stephen Rivers, Athens (Athens, Ala.) - Threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in a 37-14 win over Johnson (Huntsville, Ala.). He finished with 43 yards rushing on seven carries and passed for 73 yards.
20. Nick Sherry, Casa Grande (Petaluma, Calif.) - Opens Sept. 10 vs. Ukiah (Calif.).
22.Max Shortell, Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) - Completed 7 of 11 passes for 208 yards and threw touchdown passes of 68 and 25 yards in a 54-7 win over Blue Valley Southwest (Overland Park, Kan.).
23. Reilly O'Toole, Wheaton-Warrenville South (Wheaton, Ill.) - Completed 18 of 25 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-7 win over Maine South (Park Ridge, Ill.).
24. Trevor Gretzky, Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.) - Completed 15 of 21 passes for 184 yards in a 20-17 loss to Alemany (Mission Hills, Calif.).
25. Conner Preston, Serra (Gardena, Calif.) - Completed 10 of 18 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-7 win over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.).
