St. Mary's-Colgan can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 60-0 win over Uniontown. Given St. Mary's-Colgan's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Uniontown is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cooper Simmons, who rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Klayton Adamson was another key contributor, gaining 57 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Pleasanton can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Northern Heights, posting a 40-6 victory on the road. The victory was just what Pleasanton needed coming off of a 55-14 defeat in their prior match.
Pleasanton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kam Staton, who threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes, and Tony Gillespie, who picked up 164 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Gillespie's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
St. Mary's-Colgan's win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Pleasanton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: St. Mary's-Colgan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 323.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pleasanton, though, as they've been averaging only 64.9 per game. How will Pleasanton fare against such a dominant running game?
St. Mary's-Colgan strolled past Pleasanton in their previous meeting back in October of 2019 by a score of 33-16. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Pleasanton's Blake Pohlmeier, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 83 yards.
