The Tomball Kings Homeschool will square off against the Northland Christian Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tomball Kings is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Northland Christian will be up against a hot Tomball Kings team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Homeschool never let First Baptist Christian get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday.
The result came thanks to Carson Riippa's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northland Christian). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Rosehill Christian on Tuesday. The Cougars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024.
JT Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Northland Christian's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-6-1 when he doesn't). Turner was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Sam Stevenson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Cy Taylor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Northland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosehill Christian only posted an OBP of .318.
Tomball Kings' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-14-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Northland Christian, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7-1.
