After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calvary Christian Academy, the Somerset Academy Panthers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 66-59 win over West Broward. Given Somerset Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while West Broward is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Somerset Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anthony Henderson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Johnathan Point du jour was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, West Broward still got an impressive performance from Craig Perry, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachery Ginoris, who scored ten points.
Somerset Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for West Broward, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-10.
Somerset Academy will square off against Mourning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerset Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 67.4 points per game this season. As for West Broward, they will face off against Flanagan at TBD on Tuesday. Flanagan is coming into the contest with five straight victories on the road, so West Broward is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
