Pace is 2-8 against the Tigers since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pace Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Mercedes Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Pace is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Pace was beaten by the Chargers 60-12. While losing is never fun, Pace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1351st, while the Chargers are ranked 303rd).
Pace's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrea Salgado, who scored seven points along with four steals, and Risa Trevino who scored no points. Salgado continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Mercedes came up short against the Chargers on Tuesday and fell 46-34.
Pace has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-27 record this season. As for Mercedes, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-10.
Pace might still be hurting after the 51-25 defeat they got from the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January. Can Pace avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
